Maternity Cover Afrikaans FAL Teacher (Grade 6)

Description
To teach Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) to Grade 6 learners as per the Curro curriculum for the intermediate phase, actively teaching, transferring knowledge, developing skills, and fostering positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.
Requirements
- BEd and/or PGCE in intermediate phase teaching.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as an intermediate phase teacher.
- Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum.
- SACE registration.
- Clear criminal record.
- Proven facilitation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and planning skills.
- Willing and able to work extended hours.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in Afrikaans with strong language teaching ability.
- Ability to teach Afrikaans FAL at intermediate phase level.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes.
- Set up workbooks and measure academic improvement and achievement.
- Review, implement, monitor, and adjust the term plan as necessary.
- Create customised plans to support the class pace and available lessons.
- Manage the classroom, including design and set-up for optimal performance.
- Establish and maintain disciplinary rules and communication with learners and parents.
- Set up and manage assessments (formal and continuous), including the assessment roster, revision packs, and moderation.
- Plan and manage homework per subject, including revisions and managing peer marking.
- Plan and manage extramural activities and outings.
- Foster positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.
- Ensure teaching aligns with the Curro curriculum and CAPS guidelines.
