Microbiology Laboratory Manager

💰 700,000 - R840,000 per annum
Description

To manage all Microbiology activities in the laboratory and compounding facility, develop systems and monitoring methods that adequately monitor classified areas, and develop and motivate direct reports to ensure optimal performance levels are attained and maintained.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Knowledge of cGMP and Standard Operating Procedures as related to a laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Internet) and Project Management skills.
  • Proficient with Microbiological knowledge.
  • General management of day-to-day activities.
  • Knowledge of aseptic manufacturing, techniques, and clean room environments.
  • Pharmaceutical knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, multitask, and adjust to changes in work assignments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all routine testing required and communicate results timeously to avoid unnecessary product release delays.
  • Implement and maintain a system for ordering consumables.
  • Ensure all required SOPs and systems within the laboratory are in place and maintained.
  • Identify any new requirements, suggest corrective action, and implement and maintain new requirements.
  • Ensure that any applicable CAPAs, events, and change controls are closed within stipulated timeframes.
  • Implement and maintain an environmental monitoring program/contamination control strategy.
  • Report on environmental monitoring results and trends, making recommendations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement international requirements/improvements in methods and systems.
  • Assist departments with projects where Microbiology will impact continuous improvement.
  • Manage the facility's pest control regime.
  • Draft or update job descriptions, performance contracts, and communicate training needs of staff.
